Do you know what I mean when I say, “YOU must become more?” It’s not fluffy, inspirational garbage, it’s the factual truth. I didn’t learn it myself, it dawned on me as I read an incredible biography of Albert Einstein, written by Walter Isaacson. In that book, Einstein is quoted as saying,
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we had when we created them.”
I didn’t see it at first, but then it hit me… He’s saying that WE have to change in order to solve the problems that WE have created. In my case, that was every problem in my life and business. I had to take radical ownership of it and grow as a person in order to change it.
On this episode I want you to listen carefully because this is the single most vital thing you can do to increase the success of your life and business. You have to, you must become more.
Everyone has “reasons” why they never produce results
If you are like me, you are good at figuring out why something you tried didn’t work. You can analyze and take account of every variable and every unexpected setback that kept you from reaching your goals. But what does that get you? A bunch of reasons why you did NOT succeed rather than a clear path TO success.
What I discovered is that I couldn’t let the reasons be excuses. I couldn’t settle for less than success – and that meant that I had to figure out how to overcome the obstacles to it.
Do you know what the main obstacle was? Me.
This episode is clear. It’s hard-hitting. It’s honest. Because I care about you and want to see you move beyond mediocre and average. I want to see you succeed at a very high level. Listen. Take this issue of becoming more seriously. It’s the only way your business is going to go anywhere. Trust me, I know.
Habits are a way to hack results in your life
These days everybody is writing about “hacks” – shortcuts to get specific results. I don’t really believe in hacks because I’ve learned that most things that bring results usually take a lot of work. There are no shortcuts.
But the closest thing TO a hack I’ve ever discovered is habits. Yes, I know, you’ve heard habits connected to to success before, but there’s a reason for that. It’s true. You can set yourself up for success by implementing consistent actions that build over time. That's how you create a personal growth curve that cannot be stopped.
In this episode, I walk you through my personal habit tracking chart and explain why I track all the things I do – personally and professionally. It’s the key to the success I’ve experienced.
To grow your business you must change
One of the ways I’ve come to look at this topic is through a vivid illustration. Imagine a swimming pool. Your job is to fill it up. But the only container you have is a coffee cup. How long is that going to take you? FOREVER. Now imagine you get to do it with a bucket, then a 55 gallon barrel, then a firehose. The difference is exponential.
My friends, YOU are the coffee cup, then the bucket, then the barrel, etc. Grow the vessel and you’ll grow your ability to fill the pool. What’s the pool? Whatever definition of success you’re after. It can’t happen if you are content, or lazy enough to stay at a coffee cup level. You’ve got to change if your business (and life) is going to grow.
On this episode, I refer to a challenge that I want each of you to take on. It’s what I refer to as a “7-day DEAP Dive. The acronym stands for Delegate, Eliminate, Automate, Persist. Listen to learn why it’s so important and how to put it to work in your life. You’ll never be the same.
Because I’m handing you this knowledge for free, it might be devalued. Don’t let that happen
The things I share on this episode were not free. It took me years and lots of money to discover these principles. Maybe I’m a slow learner, maybe I’m just a bit obtuse. But I didn’t give up, I gave it my best and discovered the truth about growth and success. Now I’m passing it on to you.
That’s the risk.
Many times things that come to us easily are not taken seriously. Because you’re getting this from me for free without having to invest the hard work I did, you may not value it. Please, PLEASE don’t do that. Listen to my advice and put it to action. Your next year could be your best year ever if you will.
